1912AI is operated by TRI-3 Group Canada Corporation. This Data Policy explains how data is used within the 1912AI Platform for preliminary intake, information organization, artificial-intelligence-assisted workflows, lawyer matching, routing, and related operations.
This Data Policy supplements the Privacy Policy and Terms of Use available on the Platform. The Privacy Policy governs the collection, use, disclosure, retention, protection, and individual rights associated with personal information. This Data Policy focuses on how submitted, generated, professional, and operational data may function within the Platform. It does not reduce any right provided by applicable law or the Privacy Policy.
1912AI is a legal technology and lawyer-matching platform, not a law firm. Using the Platform, communicating with a virtual assistant, or receiving a potential match does not by itself create a lawyer-client relationship with 1912AI or with a participating lawyer. A participating lawyer independently decides whether to accept a matter and what legal services, if any, to provide.
For the purposes of this Data Policy, Platform data may include:
Some Platform data is personal information and is therefore also governed by the Privacy Policy and applicable law. Data handled directly by an independent lawyer, law firm, communication provider, or other third party may also be governed by that party’s own terms, policies, and professional obligations.
Current service boundary: The Platform is intended for preliminary enquiries, intake, information organization, and lawyer matching. Users should provide only information reasonably necessary for those purposes. Initial descriptions should be concise and should avoid details that are not needed to identify the general type, location, timing, and service requirements of a matter.
Do not submit passwords, payment-card details, online-banking credentials, social insurance numbers, unredacted government identification, complete financial records, medical records, privileged legal documents, or other highly sensitive material through open chat, ordinary email, WhatsApp, WeChat, or another consumer messaging service. If additional information is required, a participating lawyer may provide separate instructions and may use systems outside the 1912AI Platform.
Users are responsible for ensuring that submitted information is reasonably accurate and that they have authority to provide information about another person. 1912AI may organize or reproduce user-provided content but does not independently verify every statement, document, identity, license, or factual assertion submitted through the Platform.
1912AI may use Platform data to:
Platform-generated summaries, classifications, tags, and match indicators are working outputs. They may be incomplete, inaccurate, or affected by the quality and context of the underlying data. They are not legal findings, professional opinions, promises of service, or guarantees of an outcome.
1912AI may use artificial intelligence, automated tools, and structured workflows to organize intake information, identify missing information, summarize user-provided content, categorize matter or transaction characteristics, and support preliminary matching and routing. Information submitted through an AI-enabled feature may include prompts, responses, conversation metadata, and generated summaries.
AI and automation support human judgment in 1912AI’s referral workflow. Human judgment remains part of decisions about whether and how a matter is referred or otherwise handled, although individual automated outputs may not always be separately reviewed. 1912AI does not make decisions producing legal or similarly significant effects solely through automated processing. A participating lawyer independently decides whether to accept a matter and what legal advice, if any, to provide.
AI-generated or AI-assisted content may be incomplete, inaccurate, or unsuitable for a particular matter. It must not be treated as legal advice. Third-party AI or automation providers may process data under their applicable service arrangements, configurations, terms, and policies. Users should not assume that an AI, chat, or messaging provider treats submitted information as privileged or confidential.
The Platform may compare information supplied by a user with professional and service information associated with participating lawyers or law firms. Matching considerations may include province or jurisdiction, matter or transaction type, timing, language, stated experience, remote-service capability, availability, and other information relevant to a preliminary introduction.
Platform data may be made available to 1912AI personnel or contractors, technology and communication providers, and participating lawyers or law firms to the extent reasonably connected with the functions requested by a user or with Platform operation. Directly identifying information may be shared with a participating lawyer when a user requests or authorizes contact, chooses to proceed, or when disclosure is otherwise permitted or required by law.
A match is only a preliminary indication. 1912AI does not guarantee that a lawyer is suitable, available, free of a conflict, willing to accept a matter, or able to achieve any particular result. A participating lawyer remains responsible for professional screening, conflicts checks, engagement decisions, legal advice, and services.
1912AI may rely on third-party services for hosting, data storage, artificial intelligence, communications, customer-relationship management, analytics, cybersecurity, document management, and technical support. Provider retention practices and other technical handling may vary by service and configuration. Providers, configurations, and processing locations may change as the Platform develops.
Platform data may be processed or stored outside a user’s province or outside Canada and may be subject to the laws of another jurisdiction. 1912AI does not represent that all data will remain in Canada. Third-party communication and technology services may also collect data directly and handle it under their own terms and policies. 1912AI does not control the independent practices or availability of those third parties.
The Privacy Policy describes 1912AI’s general approach to retention and individual privacy requests. This Data Policy does not establish a fixed retention period for every category of Platform data. Retention may depend on the status of an enquiry or account, the systems and providers involved, operational or record-keeping needs, disputes, legal requirements, and whether the data remains capable of identifying an individual.
Correction or deletion in an active 1912AI record may not immediately remove residual copies from backups, logs, cached data, or third-party systems. Information transferred to a participating lawyer or law firm may be retained separately under that party’s professional, contractual, and legal requirements. Privacy requests may be submitted as described in the Privacy Policy.
1912AI takes steps it considers reasonable in the circumstances to protect data under its control. Personal information is addressed separately in the Privacy Policy. This Data Policy does not promise any particular technical safeguard or guarantee that data will always be secure. No method of electronic transmission or storage is completely secure.
Open chat, ordinary email, WhatsApp, WeChat, and similar consumer services should be used only for preliminary communications. Communications with 1912AI or its virtual assistant do not by themselves create solicitor-client privilege or confidentiality equivalent to that owed by a retained lawyer. 1912AI cannot guarantee the security, confidentiality, or availability of systems operated independently by a service provider, participating lawyer, law firm, or other third party.
This Data Policy does not transfer ownership of user content, lawyer profile content, software, models, Platform-generated outputs, or other intellectual property. Any licence, ownership, confidentiality, or permitted-use terms are governed by the Terms of Use, applicable agreements, and applicable law. Nothing in this Data Policy gives a user a right to access another person’s data, internal security information, proprietary matching logic, or confidential business information.
1912AI may revise this Data Policy as the Platform, its data practices, technology, or legal requirements change. The revised version will be posted with an updated Last Updated date. Additional notice or consent will be provided where required by applicable law.
